Newly Refurbished Odeon Cinema, Swansea - 20-02-2007

There is nothing better than a visit to the cinema to catch one of the latest film releases. Recently I was invited to view the newly refurbished Odeon cinema in Parc Tawe, Swansea. Marketing Manager, David Cottrell, explained that over ¾ million pounds had been spent so far on the refurbishment with further, exciting changes to come.

Immediately, as I entered the foyer the changes were overwhelming. The reception area is totally transformed, very warm and inviting, with cheerful and professional staff busily greeting and offering their services to the clearly impressed customers. Amidst the many changes it is now possible to buy DVDs, books and soundtracks along with confectionery, drinks, ice creams and popcorn.

Worrying where you may be seated is now a thing of the past as it is now possible to book your favourite seat online, with a choice of normal or premier seating. Both are extremely comfortable but the premier is more luxurious and provides unbelievable legroom. With upgraded digital surround sound and new high-tech soundproofing a night at the cinema really, has never been so good.

Sunday Times Article - 19-11-2006

Having flicked through the Sunday Times this morning I came
across the article about the recently launched Clyne Castle.
Having been totally miss quoted by the reporter not only does the Mumbles have
first class restaurants it has some of the finest restaurants in the UK. I
have been working on Mumbles.co.uk for 3 years promoting the village via the
internet and it currently resides at number 1 spot for "Restaurants in Swansea" and Google's city guides. I eat out regularly in Mumbles
and was shocked by the comments that appeared in the paper. Mumbles is and always
will be a great destination and the businesses that reside there work tirelessly
to make it so.

Mumbles.co.uk acquires Swansea.info - 26-10-2006

We hope you like what we have done with Mumbles, now it is time to transform the way Swansea is represented on the internet.

I know a lot of the content on Mumbles.co.uk has very much overlapped into Swansea and vice versa but with the acquisition of the Swansea.info domain name it will allow us to streamline our content on each site.

So what does this mean for Mumbles? Well Swansea get 11 times as much interest as Mumbles on the internet, so by partnering the 2 websites it will mean far greater exposure for Mumbles and its incredible line up of restaurants, hotels, boutiques and other great assets, whilst giving Swansea a website which truly represents the city.

Clifton Terrace gets X-Rayed - 22-10-2006

Be sure to tune in to BBC 1 Wales this Monday evening, ( 23rd Oct 7pm) as Rhodri Griffiths answers calls from local
Clifton Terrace owners to try and sort out the problem of the retaining wall
which has caused their road to be closed for nearly 2 years.

In a statement received by the owners of 730 Mumbles Road the BBC X-Ray program
say…"We've interviewed the residents of Clifton Terrace and they are
disappointed that through no fault of their own the road has been closed for
almost two years. There are two elderly residents who've had great difficulty
getting to and from ambulances and another resident who says his business has
been affected. They fear the road closure has also affected the salability and
value of their homes and they believe the longer this disagreement between the
owners of 730 and 732 Mumbles Road
and the council continue, the higher the risk of further subsidence."

The wall which is over 100 years old began to fail in November
2004. A crack appeared on Clifton Terrace suggesting the wall was falling onto
the land at the back of 730,732
Mumbles Road. The council have claimed ownership
for the wall but blame the development work at the back of the properties for
the wall failing. The developers disagree with this argument.

Both developers declined to be interviewed on camera stating
that negotiations were on going but gave written statements, stating that negotiations
were at a critical stage and it wouldn't be appropriate to comment at this
stage.

BBC Xray Website

New Welsh Surf Magazine - 28-07-2006

Tonnau Surf Magazine, a new magazine for people who surf in Wales, is being released this week. It’s intended to be an extension of the surf community; a place where anyone who surfs in Wales can find out what’s going on, contribute and become a part of it. The magazine’s editor, Rachel Bell explains, “We want to make space for people to tell their surf stories, show off their artistic talent, amuse, entertain and learn from each other. It’s supposed to be yours and we hope that you’ll take part in our mission to celebrate the fact that even though surfing in Wales can be cold, inconsistent or crowded, it’s real. It’s like a supermodel compared to the girl or boy next door. It’s not a glossy, touched up photo of a one off wave on the best day of the year, it’s gritty down-to-earth fun and far from flawless, but it’s here, we’re here and we love it!” Tonnau Surf Magazine is keen to promote community and sustainable surfing and is therefore printed locally on recycled paper using vegetable inks and distributed through a Welsh company.

The magazine will come out every two months and be available through surf shops, cafes, bars, universities, corner shops and surf clubs throughout Wales. For the surf industry, Tonnau Surf Mag represents an awesome opportunity to reach thousands of surfers in an often overlooked but surfer riddled area of the UK.

Tonnau Surf Magazine will be hosting a surfing contest at Llangennith beach on Gower on Saturday the 12th of August and a barbecue with live music at the Sand Bar in Swansea on Friday the 11th of August to celebrate the launch of the magazine.
